Deportation Follows Parole

Deportation Follows Parole

Rosie Sanchez was released from CIW on
March 18, 2010 after serving 23 years in prison.
Despite the efforts of her USC law team, she was
immediately deported. Before she was arrested
in 1987, she had been approved for a green card
but never received it. Now, because of her felony
conviction she was not allowed to remain in the
U.S. even though prison offi cials had told her that
she would be released to her daughter who lives in
Anaheim. The USC law students who helped Sanchez
to win her parole are working on a request for
a pardon from Governor Schwarzenegger. Only
with a pardon can she come to the United States
to visit her family members whom she has been
separated from for so many years.
