Inez Garcia, the Right to Self-Defense

In 1974 Inez Garcia killed a man who had recently raped her in California. She was convicted of murder and spent two years in prison, CIW, before her conviction was reversed on appeal. Inez and her supporters fought for the understanding that women have a right to defend themselves against rape and her victory in court confirmed that right. Inez is now battling cancer in Miami. We want to take this chance to say we remember what she did and thank her for standing up!
